Description

The webinar will provide you with the latest information on the status of Fiscal Year 2019 appropriations for the Social Security Administration (which begins on ends October 1, 2018), the nominations of Andrew Saul for Commissioner of SSA and David Black for Deputy Commissioner and possible confirmation hearing schedule, recent Congressional hearings, and Social Security related legislation. The webinar will also feature updates on the latest developments at SSA including the solvency status of the Social Security Trust Funds, the implementation of the CARES backlog reduction plan, recently released proposed listings updates, and the recently released spring regulatory agenda for SSA. Finally, the webinar will provide updates on 2 Supreme Court cases with implications for Social Security, Lucia and Culbertson.

Stacy Cloyd is NOSSCR’s Director of Policy and Administrative Advocacy. In her role at NOSSCR, Cloyd advocates for laws, regulations, policies, and public perceptions that preserve and strengthen Social Security. Prior to working at NOSSCR, Ms. Cloyd was an attorney at Bread for the City, a nonprofit legal clinic in Washington, DC. She also served as the senior domestic policy analyst at Bread for the World Institute, an anti-hunger and anti-poverty advocacy organization. Ms. Cloyd graduated from Smith College and received her law degree and a Master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Michigan.

Lea Ko currently serves as NOSSCR’s staff attorney, where her primary role is to assist NOSSCR members in their ability to represent claimants for Social Security disability and SSI benefits. Prior to joining NOSSCR in July 2016, Ms. Ko worked for a private law firm representing Social Security claimants out of Richmond, Virginia since graduating from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2013. During her last year of law school, Ms. Ko also worked as a Social Security brief writer, drafting pre-hearing briefs on claimants’ behalf.
