I know it might seem a little self-serving, but learning how to write sales letters and copywriting in general is one of the most important skills you’ll EVER learn if you hope to make a lot of money and be successful in business.

Copywriting will allow you to sell more effortlessly than your competitors. You can have all the traffic in the world, all the “marketing strategies” and the greatest product.
But if you don’t have the copy chops to sell your product, then you could be forever doomed with mediocre sales.

I know for a fact that learning how to write copy has given me autonomy, stability, certainty, and abundance in my life. For example:
- I can travel when I want, wherever I want, no matter what. As I type this, I am coming back from Tony Robbin’s Unleash Your Power Seminar on a plane from Chicago. And at the beginning of the year I was able to fly to Hawaii for a 1 1/2 week vacation on 2 week’s notice. Best part: I didn’t have to get permission or ask for “time off” either!
- I can work wherever I want, when I want. I frequently like to go to Starbucks to work to get out of the office, and it’s a good 10 foot walk from my bedroom to my home office. And no co-worker is going to “tattle-tale” on me if I take a long lunch break either!
- I have no debt. I have a modest lifestyle, but I can rest my head knowing I have no car payments, no credit card bills, and no financial stress. And if I want something (I frequent the Apple Store many times) I can pay for it in cash.
- I have the ability to “fire” anybody I want to. I absolutely HATE drama in my business…and the freedom being able to sell with the written word has given me the agility to work with whom I choose to work with. If someone is a pain in the ass…I either fire them or don’t work for them anymore. Simple as that.
- I’m in complete control of my time. If I only want to work 3 hours one day, I can do that. If I want to really “crank it up” I can work a 16-hour day, I can do that as well. And if I want to take a week off for a “stay-cation” and just laze around…that’s no problem.
- I don’t worry about money, time or my future. My money worries are absolutely nil because I know I can practically materialize money out of thin air thank to my ability to sell with the written word.
Now I don’t say all this to brag or boast. I just wanted to show you that copywriting can literally change your life…
But here’s the best part:
Listen: there’s absolutely no way you can ever feel “secure” these days by building up monetary assets. All that can be taken from you on a whimper…just ask people who invested in real estate and stocks the past 5-6 years. Or ask the citizens of Cyprus whose government almost siezed money out of their bank accounts several months ago.
Heck, even investors who thought they couldn’t lose money with gold are learning just how wrong they were thanks to a 25.8% decline in the SPDR Gold Index so far this year.
Perfecting the skill of copywriting gives you the unparalleled ability to sell…not only via the written word but in ANY situation–whether it’s interviewing for a job, selling your kids on a lesson you want them to learn, and persuading a boardroom to your point of view.
I know I can have all my clients and income taken away tomorrow and I won’t bat an eye. Why? Because I know I have the skills to replace that income thanks to my “selling ability” with the written word.
That’s why learning this critical skill is paramount if you want to achieve any modicum of financial success. Even if you don’t plan on writing your own copy…you have to at least know the basics so you know good copy when you see it.
Failure to do so will end up leaving you hopelessly “slinging mud against the wall and seeing what sticks” when it comes to copywriting…and selling in general. You’ll be stuck learning all the “ninja” traffic and website techniques…but you’ll always be deficient in the most important skill in the world…persuading prospects why they should trust you…and give you money.
Listen: “good enough” doesn’t cut it these days. Even being “excellent isn’t good enough thanks to increased competition, a global economy, the Information age, and the low barrier of entry into business thanks to the Internet.
To get anywhere in copywriting, marketing, business, and life, you have to be outstanding.
Think about all the businesses who were good enough or “excellent” that either got shut down or whose income stagnated and has been stuck ever since…
And think about the people who where “good enough” or “excellent” but STILL lost their jobs thanks to being laid off for forced retirement.
This new economy DEMANDS that you become outstanding in order to survive. And there’s absolutely no more valuable skill you can become “outstanding” in than conveying to your target audience why they should spend money with you.
So think about your product or service right now. Are you being just “good enough” or “average?” Nine times out of ten it comes down to mediocre marketing skills–most of which is highly dependent on conveying your value propostion to prospects via the written word…either online and offline.
And here’s the best part:
