This 12 hour Clinical Supervision course meets Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners requirements.

This training is designed to develop and strengthen clinical supervision skills for independently licensed clinicians seeking to provide or seeking to continue to provide clinical supervision. This training provides information in an experiential, interactional and didactic setting allowing increased understanding of Arizona regulations and standards for clinical supervision. This course is sponsored by Scottsdale Recovery Center in order to meet AZBBHE requirements for CEU’s. Although, this course is designed with specific regulations in mind, it is important to recognize that acceptance of CEUs and supervisor training is at the discretion of the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.

This training meets the following objectives:

  • Role and responsibilities of a clinical supervisor
  • Skills needed by supervisor for providing oversight of and guidance to supervisees who diagnose, assess, create treatment plans, and provide therapy services to clients
  • Supervisory methods and techniques
  • Skills of supervisor necessary for fair and accurate evaluation of supervisee’s ability to plan and implement clinical assessment and treatment processes
  • Formats of recognized supervision (individual, group, phone, live, etc.)
  • Describe major models of supervision used in order to develop philosophy of supervision
  • Determine responsibilities of supervisee
  • Define requirements of supervision contract
  • Ways to conduct fair assessment of supervisee
  • Supervision documentation
  • Ethical challenges and considerations in supervision
  • Day two activities will ensure an opportunity for attendees to further discuss and practice the above concepts
  • Define clinical supervision and explore rules, statutes, and ethical principles pertaining to providing clinical supervision
  • Skills in process of providing feedback within supervision to ensure legal and ethical responsibilities

Charise Schwertfeger, M.S., LMFT

Charise received her graduate degree from the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Arizona State University, cohort graduation December 2009. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked as a clinician in multiple clinical settings including public mental health, private community agencies, as well as private practice. She has also supervised graduate intern clinicians and associate clinicians in the community health setting and private practice setting. She is a member of various clinical organizations for therapists and has additional training in the areas of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Minon Maier, M.A., LMFT

Minon received her graduate degree from the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the University of San Diego, graduation May 2005. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked as a clinician in multiple clinical settings including public mental health, inpatient treatment, acute care, private community agencies, as well as private practice. She has also supervised graduate intern clinicians and associate clinicians in the community health settings as well as private practice. She is a member of various clinical organizations for therapists and has additional training in the areas of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
