Strategies developed in cognitive therapy of depression are readily applied to couples’ problems: Assessment includes ascertaining conflicting perspectives, thinking disorder, escalation of distortions, and cognitive interference with communication. Interventions include reducing hostility, reinforcing pleasure, increasing collaboration) and improving sexual satisfaction through cognitive interventions.
